Billboard

How a sprite stands in a FirstPersonView. Without one, sprites stand on the floor; this lifts them off it (a lamp on the ceiling, a fireball at chest height) or bobs them up and down (a floating pickup).

Part of the First Person module: First-person games: the world seen through the player’s eyes from a flat map (FirstPersonView), walking and turning (FirstPersonMovement), weapons, billboards and solid blocks, and the Shooter template.

Requires: Sprite

Each is listed as its key in the scene file and the MCP tools, then its kind of value, its default and what it does.

  • lift: a number = 0. How high its bottom edge is off the floor, in world units. (Field: a number.)
  • bob: a number = 0. How far it bobs up and down, in world units. 0 keeps it still. (Field: a number.)
  • bobSpeed: a number = 1. Bobs a second. (Only used when bob is set.) (Field: a number.)
  • scale: a number = 1. Sprite size multiplier in first person, so the top-down map can use a different size. (Field: a number.)

Scripts use it as Billboard: its methods, events and values that aren’t saved with the scene.
