Tutorials

Each tutorial builds something small, step by step. They are played in the real editor by the same player that runs Griff’s demos, which also takes every picture on these pages, so the steps and screenshots are what the editor does today. New to Griff? Start with Getting started, then pick one.

  • Your first platformer: Build a small platformer from an empty project: a hero, a level, a coin that counts a score and a slime that hurts.
  • A top-down adventure: Build a small top-down dungeon from an empty project: a hero with a lantern, walls that cast shadows, a key and a locked door, a treasure and a bat.
  • A crate-pushing puzzle: Build a Sokoban level from an empty project: a tilemap room, a grid player, crates, goals, an undo button and a Solved panel.
  • Making a game with an agent: Connect an agent to the editor’s MCP server and watch it build, play and check a small platformer, call by call.
  • Balancing with data tables: Keep enemy stats and an XP curve in data tables, give an enemy its numbers from a row with no code, and try changes while the game runs.
