WireDisplay

Shows a number wired to its input “Value”, on its Text (or over it, without one).

Part of the Contraptions module: Contraptions, Garry’s Mod and Wiremod style: building tools used while the game runs (SandboxTools), welds, ropes and thrusters, wiring with buttons, sensors, gates, lamps and displays, and the Contraption template.

Draws itself over the whole world, under what’s pinned to the screen.

Each is listed as its key in the scene file and the MCP tools, then its kind of value, its default and what it does.

  • value: a number = 0. The number shown. Wire something to its “Value”, or set it. (Field: a number.)
  • format: text = “0.##”. How the number is written, e.g. “0” for whole numbers or “0.00” for two decimals. (How a number is written: “0” whole numbers, “0.0” one decimal, “0.00” two decimals, “0.##” up to two decimals, “000” three digits at least, “#,0” thousands with commas, “0%” a percent (0.5 is 50%). The Inspector offers these and shows a number written that way.) (Field: its own editor: Number Format.)

Not saved with the scene; scripts read them, and entity_get shows them as live while the game plays.

  • shown: text. The number as shown.

Scripts use it as WireDisplay: its methods, events and values that aren’t saved with the scene.
